Chemistry plans online celebrations of student awards

Chemistry awards over $30,000 to students annually to celebrate outstanding academic in coursework pedagogy, research, and outreach. Normally, awards are conferred during an in-person ceremony in the Science Commons. This year, due to campus closures, awards celebrations are going online.

Undergraduate Virtual Awards Ceremony

Awardees will be celebrated in a virtual ceremony on chemistry’s social media accounts. The chemistry community is encouraged to join in during the day to view more information about awardees and to leave comments for the winners.

Award winners were notified of their awards by faculty in special Zoom calls ahead of the online ceremony. The video below captures the moments these students learned they had won an award!

Graduate Online Awards Symposium

Graduate award winners will present a five minute flash talk on their research during an online symposium via Zoom. We will also recognize our 2020 PhD graduates during the event.

All current members of chemistry list servs will receive the Zoom link for the event automatically via email unless they have unsubscribed from Trumba calendar updates. All others are welcome to visit the calendar and sign up for an email or text reminder of the event with a link. To do this, choose your preferred method of notification from the “More Event Actions” drop-down menu for the event.
