First year graduate scholar Ayanna Jones has been selected to attend the American Associated for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Catalyzing Advocacy in Science and Engineering (CASE) workshop. The workshop will take place March 29-April 1, 2020 in Washington, D.C. At the workshop, participants will gain knowledge on the structure and organization of Congress and the federal budget and appropriations process, learn tools for effective science communication and civic engagement, and participate in interactive seminars about policymaking and communication. On Wednesday, April 1, students will have the option to conduct meetings with their elected Members of Congress or congressional staff on Capitol Hill. Ayanna received her Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Clark Atlanta University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude as a Provost Academic Achievers Scholar. Ayanna also received her Master of Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences.
