An acronym for the International English Language Testing System, a language proficiency test for applicants whose first language is not English. Many programs either require IELTS scores or accept them as an alternative to TOEFL scores. Emory accepts the IELTS as a TOEFL alternative. We require a minimum score of 7.5 and suggest that scores of 8.5 or above will be most competitive.
