Ethel Ellington started work in the Department of Chemistry at Emory University in 1989. Today is her last day at Emory as she looks towards retirement from her role as Undergraduate Program Coordinator. Ethel has been an integral part of our chemistry community – in many ways, she has helped to build that community, setting a standard of incredible service to students and support for staff and faculty. Highlights of Ethel’s work are too numerous to count, but include the annual graduation reception in chemistry and the oversight of the transition to Chemistry Unbound. During her time at Emory, Ethel was recognized for her work with the College Staff Council Employee of the Year award.
Due to social distancing measures, we are not able to celebrate Ethel at this time in the manner we would wish. While we wait to safely gather in person, we have compiled a digital card for Ethel. All members of the chemistry community and welcomed and encouraged to visit the card to leave a message to Ethel so that we can continue to archive the impact she has had on so many of us.
