Dr. David Lynn, Asa Griggs Candler Professor of Chemistry and HHMI Professor, has received a 2022 Faculty Sustainability Innovators Award from Emory’s Office of Sustainability Initiatives.
This award recognizes Dr. Lynn’s work as Senior Advisor to the Resilience and Sustainability Collaboratory (RSC) at Emory. In this role, Lynn has helped launch a new and exciting interdisciplinary collaboration among faculty at Emory working at the intersection of social justice and climate change with corporate and community partners.

I see [his] role as critical to the RSC and to Emory achieving its goals for sustainability, social justice, and economic inclusion.”
Lynn’s work to advance sustainability in support of social justice and a greener world is echoed in his research into systems chemistry. He has developed chemical and physical methods for analyzing supramolecular self-assemblies, signal transduction in cellular development and pathogenesis, and designing molecular skeletons for storing and reading information for the evolution of biological order. He is also a co-founder of On Recent Discoveries by Emory Researchers (ORDER), which engages near-peer mentors and recent Emory University discoveries to expose first-semester freshmen to the diverse programs available in a research university, the precursor to the IDEAS seminarin graduate school, this can mean two things – a seminar c... run out of the Institute for the Liberal Artsacademic subjects, including traditional humanities subjects... at Emory.
The award will be presented during the OSC’s annual Earth Day virtual event on Friday, April 15, 10:30-11:30 am.
